First post here. Military spouse here. Household incomes average around $82,847 in Westfield. With a population of 40,673, Westfield is a smaller city. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a teacher who relocated here from Baltimore about 10 years ago. The main reasons were weather and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Active local events and festivals
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Road conditions need improvement
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are developing, gas is average.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Happy to answer more specific questions..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are surprisingly good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Bought a house here in 2018 and it's not perfect but it works for me. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Used to live on the Maple Ridge side, now on the Springfield side. Completely different vibe. it exceeded my expectations.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in The Heights. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in consulting you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Italian.
