Anyone else love living in Westfield?

I'm a teacher here and Rent is about $2,211/month for a decent place. Median household income is $212,700, which feels pretty solid for the area. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Is this normal for Westfield? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Oak Park. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in engineering. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Boston about 11 years ago. The main reasons were school and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good internet infrastructure
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are manageable, gas is challenging.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Bought a house here in 2019 and it was the best decision I ever made. Property values have gone about the same since then.
