First post here. I'm a teacher here and It's a a smaller city city with about 30,760 people. Median household income is $212,700, which feels pretty solid for the area. Crime rate is something to consider -Westfield sits at 13.5 per 100K. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Should I be concerned? Any help is appreciated. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a HR manager who relocated here from Denver about 15 years ago. The main reasons were weather and retirement.
Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are manageable, gas is decent.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Definitely worth checking out..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I love the pace of life here. Internet is challenging in most areas.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want nightlife, then yeah this place is great. But if public transit matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's exactly what I was looking for.

Hot take but the quality of life is solid. I know a lot of people disagree but after 9 years here, that's my honest assessment.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a pharmacist, 44, moved here 10 years ago from San Diego. I've lived in Uptown and South, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Affordable housing options
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The housing market situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Uptown: Great for retirees. decent vibes, walkable.
- South: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Diego, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $60K-$100K here.
**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Baltimore about 8 years ago. The main reasons were family and a job opportunity.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are established, gas is pretty good.
Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
