Median household income is $110,101, which feels pretty solid for the area.

Hot take but it's been a really good experience overall. I know a lot of people disagree but after 15 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 11 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is improving.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Lakewood side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Meadowbrook. It's average for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in finance. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like BBQ.
No regrets on my end..

Bought a house here in 2019 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The job market is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

The food scene here is tough. Tons of great Thai places. I love the pace of life here.

We moved here with our family and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Schools in Pine Hills area are hit or miss. Kids love it here.

I've been here 6 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I love the pace of life here. Happy to answer more specific questions..
