Things Westlake needs to improve

First post here. We have two kids and Poverty rate is 3.9%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Westlake sits at 37.0 per 100K. Rent is about $1,480/month for a decent place. The unemployment rate is 2.0%, which is pretty low. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Any advice would be great. Cheers. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Bought a house here in 2020 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

I've lived in West for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Pittsburgh, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The community vibe scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for remote workers. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
