Best and worst neighborhoods in Westminster

Hi all, You can expect to pay around $2,100 for rent here. With a population of 90,147, Westminster is a smaller city. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Would love some local perspective. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 11 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is challenging.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Maple Ridge side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Atlanta about 9 years ago. The main reasons were school and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good schools in most areas
- Strong job market in several industries

Cons that are real:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are wild, gas is decent.

Socially, the quality of life is solid. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's been a really good experience overall. Compared to New York it's average.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.

I've been here 1 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Public transit is surprisingly good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

I've lived in The Heights for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Chicago, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good schools in most areas
- The walkability scene is pretty good

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Property taxes are high

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for remote workers. Good luck with whatever you decide..
