Why I chose Westminster over bigger cities

Anyone else feel this way? Poverty rate is 14.0%, which is around average. Median household income is $82,686, which feels pretty solid for the area. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. What neighborhoods would you suggest?

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely improving and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Denver, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a data analyst, 54, moved here 5 years ago from Miami. I've lived in Highland and Eastside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Rising rent and home prices
3. The housing market situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Highland: Great for couples. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Eastside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Miami, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $60K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

If you value safety, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely solid and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Greenfield) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Winters are long and cold
3. The dating scene situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**

- Westside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value safety, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely underrated and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Sunset) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Compared to Boston it's solid.

Used to live on the Old Town side, now on the East side. Completely different vibe. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in South. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in construction. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
