Public transit is excellent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I genuinely enjoy living here. Compared to Baltimore it's average.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 2 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Active local events and festivals
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are growing, gas is decent.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Seattle about 13 years ago. The main reasons were school and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are pricey, gas is excellent.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Hope this helps!.

Bought a house here in 2017 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone up significantly since then.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Seattle about 12 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Four distinct seasons
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are growing, gas is underrated.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 14 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..
