Moving from Memphis to Weston next month

Hey folks, Born and raised here. The unemployment rate is 2.4%, which is pretty low. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Am I wrong here? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The city has invested a lot in new development. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Portland about 14 years ago. The main reasons were school and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Close to major attractions
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are competitive, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Feel free to reach out with questions..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I love the pace of life here. Internet is average in most areas.

My experience has been mostly positive. I'm still on the fence after all this time. The only thing I'd watch out for is dating scene. Other than that, Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Maple Ridge. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in construction. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like seafood.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Used to live on the Sunset side, now on the Pine Hills side. Completely different vibe. I genuinely enjoy living here.
