Hey everyone, Median household income is $158,055, which feels pretty solid for the area. Crime rate is something to consider -Westphalia sits at 386.5 per 100K. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Am I wrong here? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a data analyst who relocated here from New York about 10 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Four distinct seasons
- Diverse dining options
Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are competitive, gas is improving.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've been living here for 6 years and I'd say it exceeded my expectations. The community vibe is underrated compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..

Public transit is better than expected here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's exactly what I was looking for.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 9 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is excellent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've been here 9 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into running, this place is better than expected.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
No regrets on my end..

Bought a house here in 2019 and it's not perfect but it works for me. Property values have gone up significantly since then.
