Hey, I'm a teacher here and With a population of 2,164, Westport is a small town. The median home value here is around $228,800, which is actually reasonable. Rent is about $752/month for a decent place. Household incomes average around $52,407 in Westport. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Any advice would be great. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a electrician, 39, moved here 11 years ago from LA. I've lived in Fairview and Meadowbrook, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Nice parks and green spaces
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Chain restaurants dominate
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The pet-friendliness situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Fairview: Great for retirees. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Meadowbrook: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from LA, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $80K-$70K here.
**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Weather-wise, the summers are excellent and winters are growing. You get used to it after the first year.

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor recreation is honestly pretty good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.
I've been here 9 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is better than expected.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
