We have two kids and Crime rate is something to consider -Wethersfield sits at 88.4 per 100K. Homes are going for about $300,500 on average. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. What would you do? The suburbs are where most families end up. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The city has invested a lot in new development.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is community vibe. I have mixed feelings honestly. Worth doing your research before committing.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I love the pace of life here. Internet is tough in most areas.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.
I've been here 1 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is surprisingly good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
