Hi all, With a population of 27,180, Wethersfield is a smaller city. The median home value here is around $300,500, which seems about average. Poverty rate is 3.7%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $1,303/month for a decent place. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Anyone in a similar situation? Thanks for reading. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Weather-wise, the summers are hit or miss and winters are developing. You get used to it after the first year.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a nurse, 50, moved here 15 years ago from Miami. I've lived in West and Pine Hills, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Nice parks and green spaces
3. Good internet infrastructure
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Limited high-paying job options
3. The pet-friendliness situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- West: Great for remote workers. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Pine Hills: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Miami, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $50K-$100K here.
**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.
I've been here 4 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is hit or miss.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've been here 7 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is school system. it's exactly what I was looking for. Worth doing your research before committing.
