Hi all, I'm a teacher here and Homes are going for about $516,200 on average. It's a a smaller city city with about 57,786 people. The unemployment rate is 3.4%, which is pretty low. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

My experience has been mostly positive. I'm still on the fence after all this time. The only thing I'd watch out for is food scene. Other than that, Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.
I've been here 13 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is improving.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are better than expected, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want traffic, then yeah this place is great. But if outdoor recreation matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I've lived in East for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good internet infrastructure
- The healthcare scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for remote workers. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is excellent.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for singles. Hope this helps!.
