First post here. I'm originally from Sacramento and The median home value here is around $516,200, which is pretty steep. Rent is about $1,861/month for a decent place. Homes are going for about $516,200 on average. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The suburbs are where most families end up. The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Weather-wise, the summers are improving and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Internet is tough in most areas.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely solid and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (West) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Atlanta, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Road conditions need improvement.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Greenfield for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by food scene. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Active local events and festivals
- The pet-friendliness scene is improving
The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Far from beaches/mountains
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for couples. Hope this helps!.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I have mixed feelings honestly. Internet is average in most areas.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Midtown. It's surprisingly good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in tech. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally challenging. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Thai.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are better than expected, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Hot take but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. I know a lot of people disagree but after 2 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong job market in several industries
- The traffic scene is tough
The downsides:
- Dating scene is rough
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for families. No regrets on my end..

Public transit is solid here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it was the best decision I ever made.

Used to live on the Fairview side, now on the Sunset side. Completely different vibe. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

I work in healthcare here and I genuinely enjoy living here. The job market for my field is surprisingly good. Good luck with whatever you decide..
