Just moved to Weymouth Town, any tips?

Hey folks, Military spouse here. Crime rate is something to consider -Weymouth Town sits at 294.2 per 100K. Average temperature is around 51--F, so expect cold winters. Homes are going for about $516,200 on average. You can expect to pay around $1,861 for rent here. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Used to live on the Meadowbrook side, now on the Old Town side. Completely different vibe. I have mixed feelings honestly.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are underrated, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem improving.

I've been here 13 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into running, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Downtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Bought a house here in 2022 and it exceeded my expectations. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely improving and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Property taxes are high.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 14 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Urban sprawl is real

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are affordable, gas is solid.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
