Remote worker thinking about Wheaton

I grew up here but left for a while. The unemployment rate is 2.2%, which is pretty low. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. What are your go-to spots? The weather takes some getting used to. The suburbs are where most families end up. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a nurse who relocated here from Tampa about 13 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and a fresh start.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Active local events and festivals
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are manageable, gas is decent.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. No regrets on my end..
