Anyone else love living in Wheaton?

OK so Been living here since 2020. It's a a smaller city city with about 52,172 people. Household incomes average around $107,349 in Wheaton. Average temperature is around 56--F, so the weather is moderate. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The weather takes some getting used to. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Low taxes
- Easy commute

Cons:
- Cold winters
- Limited dining options
- Few job opportunities in some fields
- Boring for young people
- Not enough green space
What would you do? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a lawyer, 27, moved here 13 years ago from Tampa. I've lived in East and Cedar Grove, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Strong job market in several industries
2. Close to major attractions
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Urban sprawl is real
3. The weather situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- East: Great for families. solid vibes, walkable.
- Cedar Grove: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Tampa, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $50K-$70K here.

**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Used to live on the West side, now on the Springfield side. Completely different vibe. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.
