Hey folks, I'm a remote worker and Poverty rate is 8.2%, which is pretty low. With a population of 52,172, Wheaton is a smaller city. Median household income is $107,349, which feels pretty solid for the area. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Anyone in a similar situation? Thanks in advance! Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. I've been living here for 10 years and I'd say it's been a really good experience overall. The public transit is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Hope this helps!.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely tough and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Sunset) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

My experience has been mostly positive. I love the pace of life here. The only thing I'd watch out for is outdoor recreation. Other than that, Definitely worth checking out..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is cultural scene. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Worth doing your research before committing.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I have mixed feelings honestly. Compared to Salt Lake City it's hit or miss.
