What surprised you most about Wheaton?

Alright, Household incomes average around $107,349 in Wheaton. Homes are going for about $483,100 on average. The median home value here is around $483,100, which is pretty steep. Average temperature is around 56--F, so the weather is moderate. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development. What do you all think? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I have mixed feelings honestly. Compared to New York it's surprisingly good.

I work in healthcare here and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market for my field is challenging. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Hot take but it exceeded my expectations. I know a lot of people disagree but after 2 years here, that's my honest assessment.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Oak Park. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is developing right now, especially in consulting. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

As someone who grew up here, it's exactly what I was looking for. A lot has changed in the past few years though. healthcare used to be much affordable but now it's pretty good.

I've lived in East for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Nashville, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good airport with direct flights
- The dating scene scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Nightlife is limited

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
