Random thought, The median home value here is around $483,100, which is pretty steep. Rent is about $2,151/month for a decent place. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. What would you do? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The food scene here is surprisingly good. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Springfield. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in finance. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..
