Alright, I'm a remote worker and Median household income is $52,260, which feels on the lower side for the area. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Any advice would be great. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value outdoor recreation, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely pretty good and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. My neighborhood (Eastside) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Bought a house here in 2016 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a sales manager, 38, moved here 1 years ago from Denver. I've lived in South and Sunset, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Nice parks and green spaces
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Limited public transit options
3. The outdoor recreation situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- South: Great for families. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- Sunset: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Denver, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $90K-$140K here.

As someone who grew up here, I love the pace of life here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. outdoor recreation used to be much wild but now it's challenging.
