Hello, Poverty rate is 0.9%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $100,896, which feels pretty solid for the area. The unemployment rate is 2.6%, which is pretty low. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Should I be concerned? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 5 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is average.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the Lakewood side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's not perfect but it works for me. Internet is improving in most areas.

Used to live on the Pine Hills side, now on the East side. Completely different vibe. it was the best decision I ever made.

Came here for school and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The cost of living is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is improving.
