OK so My partner and I are The median home value here is around $219,200, which is actually reasonable. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Thoughts? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely excellent and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Springfield) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Traffic during rush hour is rough.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've been here 4 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Greenfield side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in West. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in construction. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally challenging. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Korean.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a project manager, 35, moved here 3 years ago from LA. I've lived in Old Town and Westside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Active local events and festivals
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Chain restaurants dominate
3. The safety situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Old Town: Great for families. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Westside: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from LA, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $70K-$150K here.
**Final verdict:**
