Anyone else feel this way? I'm single, late 30s, and Poverty rate is 7.5%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -White Plains sits at 180.7 per 100K. It's a a smaller city city with about 59,818 people. The median home value here is around $624,100, which is pretty steep. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The weather takes some getting used to. Let me know your thoughts. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Hot take but it's been a really good experience overall. I know a lot of people disagree but after 15 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Bought a house here in 2022 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Bought a house here in 2016 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Came here for quality of life and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The pet-friendliness is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The food scene is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want school system, then yeah this place is great. But if pet-friendliness matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Came here for school and stayed because I genuinely enjoy living here. The housing market is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely decent and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Highland) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Salt Lake City, be prepared for the culture shock. safety is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
