Working remotely from White Plains

OK so Average temperature is around 52--F, so expect cold winters. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Has anyone dealt with this? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. the quality of life is solid. Internet is average in most areas.

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Good schools in most areas
- The healthcare scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for retirees. Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a HR manager, 39, moved here 11 years ago from Denver. I've lived in Riverside and Midtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Strong job market in several industries
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Can feel isolated
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The food scene situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Riverside: Great for remote workers. improving vibes, walkable.
- Midtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Denver, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $40K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Came here for quality of life and stayed because I have mixed feelings honestly. The cultural scene is honestly tough and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The nightlife scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Limited entertainment options
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for families. Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in Springfield for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Strong job market in several industries
- The cost of living scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Winters are long and cold

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for couples. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it was the best decision I ever made. Compared to LA it's solid.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in The Heights. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in real estate. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Indian.

Happy to answer more specific questions..
