Curious what people think. The median home value here is around $138,700, which is actually reasonable. Crime rate is something to consider -Whitehall sits at 596.2 per 100K. You can expect to pay around $1,102 for rent here. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Pros:
- Good job market
- Growing food scene
- Low crime in most areas
- Good schools
- Good healthcare facilities

Cons:
- Lack of diversity
- Limited cultural events
- Homelessness issues downtown
Should I be concerned? Appreciate any input. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 7 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value traffic, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely better than expected and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
