Anyone else love living in Whitehall?

Longtime lurker here, I'm retired and You can expect to pay around $909 for rent here. Median household income is $85,000, which feels pretty solid for the area. The food scene here is surprisingly good. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. What would you do?

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Seattle about 8 years ago. The main reasons were family and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Four distinct seasons
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are competitive, gas is decent.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Sunset. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Indian.
