The median home value here is around $299,700, which seems about average. The unemployment rate is 5.0%, which is about average. Household incomes average around $63,480 in Whitney. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value food scene, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely challenging and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (The Heights) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I work in finance here and it's been a really good experience overall. The job market for my field is excellent. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
