Not sure if this has been asked before, but Just moved here 1 months ago and Average temperature is around 62--F, so the weather is moderate. Crime rate is something to consider -Whittier sits at 247.2 per 100K. Poverty rate is 5.6%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $92,374, which feels pretty solid for the area. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Westside for 3 years. Moved from Seattle for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is solid. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.
**Employment:**
legal is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is decent - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Westside schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Nightlife is limited. Dating scene is rough. And pet-friendliness can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 5/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Bought a house here in 2017 and it exceeded my expectations. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Weather-wise, the summers are pretty good and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.
