First time home buyer in Wichita Falls

Hi all, Household incomes average around $58,568 in Wichita Falls. The median home value here is around $142,600, which is actually reasonable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Would love some local perspective. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it exceeded my expectations. Compared to Atlanta it's improving.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 8 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Uptown side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Public transit is improving here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.
