I keep seeing people overlook Wichita when talking about great places to live. With a population of 396,488, it's big enough to have everything you need but small enough to feel like a community. There are tons of parks and outdoor spaces. Weather is moderate — about 59F average.

I've lived in Maple Heights for 8 years and it's still one of the best decisions I made.

Totally agree with this. I've been here 11 years and my experience is very similar.

Coming from Atlanta, the cost of living difference is noticeable. Groceries and gas are about the same.

Traffic is the worst part honestly. But if you live near work it's fine.

Downtown is overrated and overpriced. The suburbs offer way better value.

Weather is the biggest factor for us. Four seasons are nice, not too extreme either way.

I'd add that the parks here are amazing for families. Otherwise spot on!

Public transit needs work but they're investing in it. Should improve in next few years.

As someone who moved here from LA, I can confirm most of this. The job opportunities surprised me the most.
