Is Wickliffe still affordable?

Longtime lurker here, Median household income is $79,052, which feels about average for the area. Average temperature is around 50--F, so expect cold winters. The median home value here is around $158,400, which is actually reasonable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Pros:
- Great weather
- Close to nature
- Low taxes
- Easy commute
- Walkable downtown

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Rising rent prices
- Lack of diversity
- Poor road conditions
- Limited cultural events
Appreciate any input. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from San Diego about 2 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of new development happening

Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are manageable, gas is tough.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. it was the best decision I ever made. Compared to Pittsburgh it's decent.

The food scene here is improving. Tons of great Indian places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Hot take but it exceeded my expectations. I know a lot of people disagree but after 15 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Came here for retirement and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The job market is honestly average and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

We moved here with our family and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Schools in Oak Park area are challenging. Kids love it here.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a software engineer, 52, moved here 1 years ago from Austin. I've lived in East and Highland, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Growing food and restaurant scene
2. Affordable housing options
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Chain restaurants dominate
2. Limited shopping options
3. The housing market situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- East: Great for young professionals. improving vibes, walkable.
- Highland: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Austin, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $90K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
Happy to answer more specific questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Public transit is solid here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I love the pace of life here.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a project manager who relocated here from Houston about 4 years ago. The main reasons were school and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Strong job market in several industries
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are stable, gas is average.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Hope this helps!.
