Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a teacher who relocated here from Portland about 4 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Affordable housing options
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are growing, gas is tough.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 8 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Fairview. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

Happy to answer more specific questions..
