Day-to-day life in Wilderness Rim, WA

You can expect to pay around $2,563 for rent here. With a population of 1,770, Wilderness Rim is a small town. The unemployment rate is 2.5%, which is pretty low. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Pros:
- Good job market
- Nice parks and trails
- Low crime in most areas

Cons:
- Boring for young people
- Limited cultural events
- Homelessness issues downtown
Thoughts? Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Lakewood for 6 years. Moved from Boston for a fresh start. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is pretty good. We bought in 2023 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
consulting is strong here. real estate is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it was the best decision I ever made. The outdoor scene is average - we have lakes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Lakewood schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not very walkable outside downtown. Limited entertainment options. And school system can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 9/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Bought a house here in 2021 and it was the best decision I ever made. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

I've been living here for 14 years and I'd say it exceeded my expectations. The food scene is underrated compared to other places I've lived. Overall Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
