So, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and It's a a smaller city city with about 36,953 people. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Anyone in a similar situation? Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Weather-wise, the summers are average and winters are competitive. You get used to it after the first year.

The food scene here is underrated. Tons of great Asian places. it's been a really good experience overall.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value housing market, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely better than expected and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Baltimore, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've been living here for 8 years and I'd say I love the pace of life here. The job market is excellent compared to other places I've lived. Overall It's not for everyone but it works for us..
