Is Wildwood walkable?

Been meaning to ask this. Military spouse here. It's a a small town city with about 16,739 people. The median home value here is around $419,700, which is pretty steep. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Would love some local perspective. Thanks for reading.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value safety, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (South) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. housing market is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Hot take but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. I know a lot of people disagree but after 15 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want food scene, then yeah this place is great. But if traffic matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I work in construction here and it's not perfect but it works for me. The job market for my field is better than expected. Definitely worth checking out..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a marketing manager, 27, moved here 3 years ago from San Francisco. I've lived in Fairview and Cedar Grove, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Low crime in most neighborhoods
3. Decent public transit for the size
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Not very walkable outside downtown
3. The housing market situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Fairview: Great for families. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- Cedar Grove: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Francisco, everything felt hit or miss. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $100K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Came here for weather and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The public transit is honestly tough and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is food scene. it's exactly what I was looking for. Worth doing your research before committing.
