Life in Wildwood as a young professional

Longtime lurker here, We have two kids and You can expect to pay around $1,578 for rent here. Crime rate is something to consider -Wildwood sits at 656.6 per 100K. It's a a small town city with about 16,739 people. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The suburbs are where most families end up. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Oak Park. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in consulting. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Indian.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.

I've been here 11 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is traffic. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I genuinely enjoy living here. Internet is solid in most areas.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a sales manager who relocated here from Miami about 13 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Decent public transit for the size
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are established, gas is decent.

Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I love the pace of life here. Compared to Minneapolis it's better than expected.
