Hey folks, I'm single, late 50s, and Homes are going for about $419,700 on average. With a population of 16,739, Wildwood is a small town. Crime rate is something to consider -Wildwood sits at 656.6 per 100K. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Is this normal for Wildwood? Thanks! It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. The suburbs are where most families end up. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The city has invested a lot in new development. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Boston about 2 years ago. The main reasons were work and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of new development happening
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are competitive, gas is excellent.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've lived in Sunset for about 14 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Four distinct seasons
- The housing market scene is hit or miss
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Property taxes are high
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for young professionals. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value job market, you'll love it. The job market is genuinely improving and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Pine Hills) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is dating scene. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Worth doing your research before committing.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from New York about 12 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good healthcare facilities
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Chain restaurants dominate
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are wild, gas is underrated.
Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
