Williams is underrated, change my mind

Hey everyone, I'm a 48-year-old mechanic and Rent is about $1,296/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider -Williams sits at 374.0 per 100K. Median household income is $93,138, which feels pretty solid for the area. The median home value here is around $339,900, which seems about average. You can expect to pay around $1,296 for rent here. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Pros:
- Low crime in most areas
- Close to nature
- Easy commute
- Lots of new development
- Strong sense of community

Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Sprawl everywhere
- Limited dining options
- Few job opportunities in some fields
What are your go-to spots? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Weather-wise, the summers are decent and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a software engineer, 46, moved here 6 years ago from Dallas. I've lived in Old Town and Fairview, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Urban sprawl is real
3. The school system situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Old Town: Great for remote workers. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Fairview: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Dallas, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $50K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
Would recommend to anyone considering it.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Midtown for 6 years. Moved from Miami for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is solid. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
engineering is strong here. finance is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is improving - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Midtown schools are better than expected. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not very walkable outside downtown. Chain restaurants dominate. And job market can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 7/10. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.

I've been here 7 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into running, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Downtown side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

Bought a house here in 2021 and it exceeded my expectations. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

I'm a social worker and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community is decent and there's always something going on.
