Unpopular opinion about Williamsport

Been meaning to ask this. With a population of 1,025, Williamsport is a small town. The median home value here is around $136,400, which is actually reasonable. Rent is about $908/month for a decent place. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Let me know your thoughts. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely pretty good and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Midtown) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Road conditions need improvement.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Hot take but I genuinely enjoy living here. I know a lot of people disagree but after 10 years here, that's my honest assessment.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Internet is pretty good in most areas.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Cedar Grove. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in finance. If you're in consulting you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Moved here from Austin about 1 years ago. I'm still on the fence after all this time. Still getting used to food scene but No regrets on my end..

Came here for cost of living and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The pet-friendliness is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a marketing manager, 55, moved here 3 years ago from Denver. I've lived in Maple Ridge and Downtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Nice parks and green spaces
2. Strong job market in several industries
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally improving - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Bugs and humidity in summer
3. The safety situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Maple Ridge: Great for remote workers. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- Downtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Denver, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is reasonable. You can live comfortably on $70K-$90K here.

**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

As someone who grew up here, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. A lot has changed in the past few years though. walkability used to be much established but now it's hit or miss.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.

I've been here 2 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

If you value food scene, you'll love it. The weather is genuinely hit or miss and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (The Heights) is competitive and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
