Raising a family in Willimantic -thoughts?

I grew up here but left for a while. Household incomes average around $41,972 in Willimantic. The unemployment rate is 4.7%, which is about average. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Does this match your experience?

I'm a contractor and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. The community is solid and there's always something going on.
