Longtime lurker here, I grew up here but left for a while. You can expect to pay around $1,337 for rent here. The food scene here is surprisingly good. What are your go-to spots? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

I'm a physical therapist and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. The community is better than expected and there's always something going on.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a social worker, 45, moved here 12 years ago from Pittsburgh. I've lived in Cedar Grove and Uptown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Lots of new development happening
2. Close to major attractions
3. Diverse dining options
4. The people are generally solid - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Limited shopping options
3. The school system situation is reasonable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Cedar Grove: Great for families. decent vibes, walkable.
- Uptown: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Pittsburgh, everything felt pretty good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is manageable. You can live comfortably on $100K-$90K here.
**Final verdict:**
Definitely worth checking out.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The pet-friendliness is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want outdoor recreation, then yeah this place is great. But if job market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I've been living here for 4 years and I'd say I'm still on the fence after all this time. The job market is decent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Good luck with whatever you decide..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is community vibe. it's been a really good experience overall. Worth doing your research before committing.
