Willow Street job market vs Charlotte

Anyone else feel this way? I'm a 48-year-old nurse and Crime rate is something to consider -Willow Street sits at 679.3 per 100K. Homes are going for about $298,200 on average. Average temperature is around 55--F, so expect cold winters. With a population of 10,010, Willow Street is a small town. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Would love some local perspective. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a teacher, 45, moved here 2 years ago from Denver. I've lived in Downtown and Uptown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good internet infrastructure
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Four distinct seasons
4. The people are generally underrated - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The safety situation is competitive and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Downtown: Great for families. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- Uptown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Denver, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $70K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Bought a house here in 2015 and it's exactly what I was looking for. Property values have gone up significantly since then.
