Best coffee shops in Wilmer?

I'm a teacher here and Poverty rate is 11.6%, which is around average. With a population of 5,876, Wilmer is a small town. The median home value here is around $111,200, which is actually reasonable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Any advice would be great. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The suburbs are where most families end up. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a writer, 39, moved here 12 years ago from Portland. I've lived in Highland and Uptown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Great outdoor activities nearby
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Property taxes are high
3. The safety situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Highland: Great for young professionals. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Uptown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Portland, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $90K-$100K here.

**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
