Hey everyone, Born and raised here. Median household income is $192,300, which feels pretty solid for the area. Average temperature is around 50--F, so expect cold winters. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Anyone in a similar situation? Thanks in advance! There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because it's been a really good experience overall. The housing market is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value walkability, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Meadowbrook) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.
I've been here 12 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..
