Longtime lurker here, I'm a remote worker and With a population of 71,124, Wilmington is a smaller city. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Let me know your thoughts. The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

I've lived in North for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Charlotte, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of new development happening
- The community vibe scene is excellent
The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for young professionals. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

We moved here with our family and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Schools in Greenfield area are decent. Kids love it here.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is pet-friendliness. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Worth doing your research before committing.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value healthcare, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely improving and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (East) is pricey and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. food scene is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
