Curious what people think. Just moved here 18 months ago and Homes are going for about $361,600 on average. It's a a small town city with about 14,457 people. Household incomes average around $92,578 in Wilmington Island. You can expect to pay around $1,680 for rent here. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Am I overthinking this? The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. We moved here with our family and it's not perfect but it works for me. Schools in Maple Ridge area are pretty good. Kids love it here.

I work in retail here and the quality of life is solid. The job market for my field is solid. Definitely worth checking out..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in North for 15 years. Moved from Atlanta for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2024 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.
**Employment:**
hospitality is strong here. education is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it's exactly what I was looking for. The outdoor scene is challenging - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. North schools are solid. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Limited public transit options. And pet-friendliness can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 6/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Bought a house here in 2015 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone up a bit since then.
