Things that make Wilmington unique

Random thought, We're a young couple and Crime rate is something to consider -Wilmington sits at 133.8 per 100K. You can expect to pay around $2,412 for rent here. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Am I wrong here? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a teacher who relocated here from Austin about 5 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and retirement.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Four distinct seasons
- Affordable housing options

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are developing, gas is decent.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
