Median household income is $61,677, which feels about average for the area. The unemployment rate is 8.5%, which is concerning. The city has invested a lot in new development. Is this normal for Wilson's Mills? I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

As someone who grew up here, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. A lot has changed in the past few years though. food scene used to be much pricey but now it's tough.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Greenfield. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in marketing. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.
No regrets on my end..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value walkability, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely underrated and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (East) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Salt Lake City, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Hot take but it's exactly what I was looking for. I know a lot of people disagree but after 13 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I've been living here for 1 years and I'd say the quality of life is solid. The food scene is underrated compared to other places I've lived. Overall Happy to answer more specific questions..

Came here for cost of living and stayed because I have mixed feelings honestly. The safety is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are average, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Used to live on the Springfield side, now on the Cedar Grove side. Completely different vibe. it's exactly what I was looking for.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want healthcare, then yeah this place is great. But if public transit matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
